Rancocas Valley Regional High School Board Approves Final Vision 2020 Action Plans

Final Board of Education Presentation Vision 2020

The Rancocas Valley Regional High School District planned the future of the district by coordinating a strategic plan during the 2016-2017 school year titled Vision 2020. The District conducted this strategic plan to ensure that Rancocas Valley is on a constant trajectory of improvement to the year 2020 and beyond.

Rancocas Valley kicked off its strategic planning process with three community engagement sessions in the fall and winter of 2016. More than 200 students, Board of Education members, RVRHS administrators, staff, Superintendents from sending districts, parents, and alumni attended to help the district identify its strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. Participants’ feedback led to crafting the foundation of the Vision 2020 strategic plan.

The steering committee, made up of thirty-five stakeholders who are passionate about Rancocas Valley as well as the RV Region played an integral role in planning what Rancocas Valley will be in the future. The steering committee members held vital positions that allowed them to use the feedback from the community engagement sessions to create positive change at RV that will last for decades. The steering committee met for one evening and two full days during the month of February 2017 to develop the new district mission, student-centered goals, core values, and strategies. This foundation of the strategic plan was adopted by the Board of Education on February 28th to set the stage for the final phase of the strategic planning process.

During the month of March, 2017 action team leaders were chosen for each of the four strategies developed by the steering committee. Rancocas Valley held the first combined action team meeting at the end of March and each strategy action team held their first meeting to initiate the process to determine how the district can fulfill the strategy that will contribute to ultimately fulfilling the mission of the school district. After working diligently for three months the action team leaders presented twenty-two action plans to the original steering committee and the Board of Education.

The Rancocas Valley Regional High School Board of Education approved on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at its regular meeting, 21 action plans in the district’s five-year strategic plan, Vision 2020: Improve the future…respect the past. The plans support the four strategies in the strategic plan, which were approved by the board at its February 28th meeting. In addition, the Board adopted five commitments that illustrate the promise to implement measures as appropriate that will achieve our mission for the RV students and all stakeholders.

Although ambitious and challenging, Vision 2020 is our commitment to making a long-term, collective investment in our students and their future. The level of change detailed in this plan requires passion and collaboration among parents, students, staff, and the community that will improve the lives of students and families. We look forward to your ongoing support and participation as we start this journey.

Sincerely,

Dr. Christopher Heilig
